I’ve staggered the tabs so that I can see that they belong to different colour collections ~ Brights, Subtles, Regals, and Neutrals.  These folders are great for easy access and keeping scraps in.  I highly recommend them!

For today’s project I thought I would make use of the retired colours that I tend to neglect (gotta use them sometime!).  I picked a pink and purple combo with a little bit of green and blue.

I sponged the bird with Bashful Blue and used the same colour for my mini cards’ sentiments.  I love the combination of the word window punch and modern label punch!

The mini envelopes that fit so nicely into the box are so cute!  I couldn’t resist adding a flower to all of them.  Did I mention that to putting the box and envelopes together is SUPER easy!?!  All you have to do is pick your paper, use your Big Shot, fold along the scored lines, and add two strips of adhesive and that’s it!

I was excited when I saw this week’s Mojo Monday sketch because I love paper piercing!  Having it in the sketch inspired my paper and my ribbon choices too!  For colour, I decided to go for Old Olive, So Saffron, Rose Red, and Chocolate Chip.  The Old Olive designer paper had the dotted look that goes super well with the paper piercing as does the stitched Chocolate Chip ribbon.

I had the entire card done when I realized that I hadn’t added a tag!  I dusted off my much neglected tag punches and used my markers to colour one word at a time on the sentiment from the Short and Sweet stamp set so that they fit nicely.  What made me super happy with this card was that I was able to use designer paper, hide it, and be okay with it!

What a great sketch – I highly recommend trying it out!

I embossed the Tempting Turquoise panel with the Elegant Bouquet folder and for my central white panel I stamped off the Regal Rose to make it a shade lighter.  I used two ribbons because I thought just the Regal Rose one was a little too skinny and adding the white one behind it made it a little <fancier>.

The next time I make this card, I would try it with everything moved higher up.  Then you could see more of the flowers on the bottom right – I always hate hiding things, especially designer paper – that’s why it’s the hardest thing for me to use!

My sister is totally into making cupcakes and she found this woman’s blog (she now has a book too!) with tons of great ideas.  As I was looking through her posts I found this one for making <Mini Maple Pancake Muffins>.  Mine don’t look anywhere near as professional as hers but they taste good and that’s all that matters to my husband and I   The fact that they are bite size is fun too!  Thanks for stopping by ~ happy crafting and baking!

This is the recipe from her blog:

Mini Maple Chocolate Chip Pancake Muffins.
(Someone please come up with a shorter name for these.)

1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2/3 cup buttermilk
1 egg
2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

• Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
• Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar in a medium bowl. Sift together with a wire whisk.
• In another bowl, stir buttermilk, egg, maple syrup and melted butter until just combined.
• Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir with a spoon until combined.
• Stir in chocolate chips. Reserve a few chips to sprinkle on the tops.
• Bake for 8-9 minutes.

Makes 24 mini pancake muffins.

Let cool slightly and remove from the pan. You may need to use a toothpick around the edges to separate the pancake muffins from the pan.
Serve immediately with warmed butter if you like or even just with maple syrup.

The boy I tutor and his family are going to California next weekend and his younger sister really wanted to go to Disneyland – since their trip is too short they are only going to Universal Studios.  I thought that a cute Build a Bear with a Mickey Mouse hat would make a great card for her.

I coloured the three little flowers on the stamp from Cottage Garden Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, and Pretty in Pink to make her dress and then sponged it to add some more colour.

To make her hat I used two circle punches (1 1/4″ and 1/2″).  I added a little sponging to the flower that is on the same die as the dress.

For the background I had fun sponging with the help off some ripped scrap paper.  I used Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, and Old Olive.

On my card today I had fun trying out a punching technique for the first time.  I used the decorative label punch and the curly label punch for my layers…but couldn’t find the right shape or size for my sentiment.  The one you see here was made using the small oval punch!

Here’s how I did it! I stamped my sentiment and punched it out with the oval punch (lining it up close to the first letter).

Then I glued (not with a strong glue) the punched out piece to another piece of cardstock and punched it again!

Now for the rest of my card!  This week’s tutorial on stamping411 was on sponged embossing.  I have seen the look before and think it is absolutely FABULOUS – and easy to do too!  I was very tempted to use my En Francais background stamps but decided to use my newer and less used woodgrain stamp along with the Cheep Talk stamp set (super cute birds!).  More animals means another entry into SU Only challenges!

I stamped the branch with versamark, clear embossed it, and then sponged around it with Old Olive.  I did the same thing with the bird but used Rich Razzleberry (my favourite colour!).   The woodgrain is in Soft Suede and the edges were sponged in the same colour as well.

On to crafting though, because that’s my first passion (and no, it hasn’t rubbed off on my husband…)

I decided to have fun with the Apple Blossoms hostess set, the MojoMonday sketch, and ColourQ’s combo

I sponged the edges of the white cardstock and to hide my mistake (this was the first time using the scallop corner punch) I added a cute little butterfly on the corner.

I creased my flowers a bit by folding each petal inwards to make them stick up.  I also added some pop ups underneath the Cherry Cobbler embosslit.  I was so happy to find my kiwi kiss brad – it’s perfect AND it’s currently on the clearance rack!  (I love great deals )

I laid out all the colours that I was going to use (Tempting Turquoise, Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, and Certainly Celery) and decided that Fox and Friends would be a fitting stamp set.

I stamped the turtles first and then deciding on a sentiment I thought it was cute that the turtles were all going the same way…

Here’s my batch from today and I’ve added the recipe below in case you’re interested!

Vegan Banana Muffins (w/ Dark Chocolate & Walnuts)

Ingredients

4   Over-ripe Bananas (I keep a bunch in the freezer all the time).

1/2   Cup Maple Syrup (you can sub molasses… or a little of both as I do in my muffins).

1/2   Cup Veggie Oil (I use Olive Oil… I have used Grape Seed Oil also… or both).

1   Teaspoon Cinnamon

3/4 Teaspoon Sea Salt

1    Cup Spelt Flour

1 1/2  Cup Whole Wheat Flour

1   Teaspoon Baking Powder

1   Teaspoon Baking Soda

1   Cup Walnuts (I crush them)

1/2  Cup Dark Chocolate “bits” or chips (at least half a Cup!) Add more… to taste!  (meaning I add a lot more!)

Directions

Pre-heat Oven to 350 Degrees F.

Mash Bananas in a bowl then add the Oil, and Sweetener (set aside)

In another Bowl mix together the dry ingredients…

Combine together, mix thoroughly then spoon into a greased muffin tin

Bake for 20 – 25 mins. Test with toothpick…
